Repairing manufactured homes goes much faster

Air powered tools require an investment in an air compressor, but they sure make work go faster. If you already have a compressor, your tools will be cheaper and lighter because they don't have to have a motor built in. On the other hand, being teathered to the air line and having to drag it behind you wherever you go gets to be a pain. If you are working inside someones home you also have to be really careful the line doesn't stain or damage anything inside the home. Air tools really work the best for construction projects by people in the business.

I think the most useful nail gun for mobile home use is one that drives brads. It is really hard to drive trim nails by hand. However, you can also buy power nailers that don't require the use of an air compressor, and that would be worth checking out if you are planning a renovation that will require a lot of trim work.

An air compressor will also let you spray paint your house. I found after much experimentation that you can spray latex paint without diluting it. You buy a pressure pot ($110) and play with the pressure adjustments on it until the pressure on the paint drives it to the spray gun. It works well once you figure it out and the job goes much faster. If you combine that with some of the more advanced masking tools, you can power wash, mask and paint a 16 x 80 in 2-3 days.
