Peel & Seal Peel & Seal

A Fast Application, Multi-Purpose Roofing and Waterproofing Sheet

It starts with a reflective aluminum foil. Under the foil are rugged, waterproof polymer films. Laminated beneath the films is a thick layer of rubberized asphalt. The asphalt compound adheres to most surfaces and seals around most punctures, forming a protective waterproof barrier. Finally, a high-quality release paper is applied to shield the adhesive surface until installation.

Why an aluminum foil?

The high density aluminum foil used reflects sunlight and reduces rooftop temperatures by an estimated 22.5%. This membrane may be exposed to direct sunlight without the use of a coating, which saves time, labor and money.

Where should I use it?

Use this product anywhere you want a fast, dependable waterproofing barrier. Applying waterproofing materials is generally a messy, complicated process requiring much labor, equipment, and skill. with this product you just peel off the release paper and apply the waterproofing sheet to any prepared surface. It may be used for roofing, waterproofing, patching and repair or any job requiring tough, weatherproof protection.

How is it installed?

Simple...align sheet and apply to clean dry surface by removing the release paper as the material is carefully unrolled and pressed into place. No heat, glues, tapes, fasteners or special tools are required ... you need only a pair of scissors or utility knife. Some surfaces will require cleaning and/or priming.

Can it be used for repair work?

It's an excellent choice for patching smooth asphalt roofs. The old roof should be cleaned and primed as necessary, any blisters or irregularities repaired to present a smooth surface. A minimum 12" of solid contact should be allowed between the edge of the membrane and any known leaks. A bead of caulk will help to protect exposed edges. Narrow rolls are available for repairs and flashing.

Product Description

The Product is a self-adhering waterproofing material with a reflective aluminum surface. The sheet features multiple laminations of special aluminum foil, high density polymer films and a thick layer of rubberized asphalt waterproofing compound. The aluminum foil reflects the sun to lower rooftop temperature and reduce energy costs. The films stabilize and reinforce the sheet and act as the first line of defense against leaks. The rubberized asphalt seals tightly at the overlaps and around most punctures, and forms a long-lasting waterproof barrier. No coating is needed.

General

Apply it in fair weather at temperatures above 60° F. A minimum slope of 1/2" per foot is required. Not designed for ponding areas. NO TOP COATING IS REQUIRED.

Surface Preparation

It may be applied directly to roof decks including wood, metal, masonry and existing smooth asphalt roofs. Because of the unpredictable condition of existing roofs, the manufacturer cannot guarantee the performance of over mineral surfaces. The surface must be clean, dry and free from oil, grease or debris — prime where necessary.

Installation

It is easily installed by removing the release paper and pressing the aluminized membrane into place. It can be cut to fit using scissors or razor knife. It adheres to the deck and to itself when overlapped. When overlapping the product, 3" side laps and 6" end laps are required.

Align sheet. Peel off first 2' of release paper and adhere sheet to the substrate being careful to maintain proper alignment. Carefully unroll, peeling the release paper and pressing into place as you go. Refer to NRCA ROOFING & WATERPROOFING MANUAL for complete flashing details. Small wrinkles are not desirable but can be smoothed out and will not affect the roof's performance. Large ones should be avoided and repaired by cutting and patching before the next roll is applied.

*Also 4", 6", 9", 12" and 18" rolls.

WARNING: The product is slippery. Use caution when walking or standing on the product. It is also reflective and can contribute to sunburn. Protect skin and eyes.
